A US delegation led by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, could land this Tuesday at the Taipei Songshan airport in Taiwan, around 10:00 p.m. (2:00 p.m. GMT), local media report.

According to different information, the program of the visit foresees a meeting between Pelosi and the president of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-wenfor this Wednesday. In addition, the senior US official would visit the Legislative Yuan (Taiwanese unicameral Parliament). The agenda is believed to include a visit to the Human Rights Museum and a meeting with local activists. It is rumored that the trip may last until 17:00 on Wednesday.

Regarding accommodation, it is reported that the delegation had reserved an entire floor of 48 rooms at the Grand Hyatt hotel in the Xinyu district of downtown Taipei. From the Administration of the hotel they have not spoken to confirm or refute this possibility.

Meanwhile, the entrance to the legislative headquarters was covered with a red carpet, something that is done to receive important foreign dignitaries.
