After not wanting to delve into the matter, the White House confirmed that President Joe Biden took secret documents, but affirmed that he is cooperating with the Department of Justice on the findings made by the Democratic president’s own lawyers.
Although homes in Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, were searched, only documents were found in the garage of the former, said Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president.
“We are fully cooperating with [la oficina de] National Archives and the Department of Justice in a process to ensure that all Obama-Biden Administration records are properly in the Archives’ possession.”
The documents were in the possession of the now president when he finished his term as vice president, during the government of Barack Obama.
“Among personal and political documents, attorneys discovered a small number of additional Obama-Biden Administration records bearing classified marks,” Sauber added. “All but one of these documents were found in storage space in the garage of the president’s residence in Wilmington.”
He added that a “one-page” document was discovered among materials stored in an adjacent room.
Sauber indicated that, as was done in the Penn-Biden Center case, the Justice Department was notified and President Biden’s lawyers arranged for prosecutors to take possession of these documents.
This case is similar to the case of former President Donald Trump, who is being investigated for taking secret documents to his official residence in Mar-a-Lago.
