“This is a flagrant violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions,” Adrienne Watson, a spokeswoman for the White House National Security Council, said in a statement.

Although the United States Indo-Pacific Command has determined that that launch did not present an “immediate threat” to US personnel or territory or its alliesfrom Washington it was considered that it “unnecessarily increases tensions and risks destabilizing the security situation in the region.”

According to the spokeswoman, it only shows that the DPRK (the official name of North Korea) “continues to prioritize its illicit weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs over the welfare of their people”.
