National Archives was blocked from revealing the discovery of Biden documents, according to Comer

The president of the House Oversight Committeethe representative James Comerrevealed that the National Archives and Records Administration, NARA, was blocked from notifying Americans about the discovery of classified documents in a former office that Joe Biden used sporadically after finishing his term as Obama-era vice president.

It was during an interview with Fox News that Republican Comer revealed that NARA’s general counsel, Gary Sternmentioned behind closed doors that he could not tell lawmakers who ordered the department to will not issue a press release about the finding at the Penn Biden Center.

“There are only two people who could have given those orders, and they are the Department of Justice with (Attorney General) Merrick Garland or the White House with Joe BidenComer said. “So it shows right there that this DOJ and this White House are interfering with that.”

This information comes after it was revealed that the FBI searched the offices of the Penn Biden Center in mid-Novembershortly after President Joe Biden’s legal representatives reported finding at least 10 documents marked classified at the site on Nov. 2, two sources familiar with the investigation said.

Informants revealed to CBS News that the search was conducted with the cooperation of Biden’s lawyers and that a search warrant was not requested. So far it is not clear if FBI personnel found additional classified or presidential material during the mid-November raid.

Comer said preventing NARA from releasing information about classified materials demonstrates a double standard between how the case of Joe Biden is handled and how the discovery of confidential documents at former President Donald Trump’s estate in Mar-a-Lago was handled “if you go to the National Archives website, there are pages and pages of press releases and information about the FBI raid on Mar -a-Lago and possession of classified documents by Donald Trump. But there is nothing on the website about Joe Biden.”
