the vice president Kamala Harris will travel to Monterey Park, Californiaon Wednesday to mourn the victims of mass shooting over the weekend in that southern California city.
The visit follows three mass shootings that occurred in California over the course of a few days.
Vice President Harris announced the visit to Monterrey Park and regretted all the recent shootings in California on her official Twitter account.
“While we mourn Saturday’s mass shooting in California, we already faced two more this week alone in Half Moon Bay and Oakland. Tomorrow I will visit Monterey Park to stand and mourn with the community. Doug and I continue to pray for the healing and recovery of all those affected,” Harris said.
The announcement comes a day after seven people were killed in two related shootings in Half Moon Bay, a city south of San Francisco, and three days after a shooting at a Monterey Park dance hall in east Los Angeles that left 11 dead.
On Monday, in another shooting, one person was killed in Oakland and seven others were injured.
The shootings in Monterey Park, Half Moon Bay and Oakland left a total of 19 dead and many others injured.
Harris will place a wreath at a memorial honoring the 11 people killed by a gunman at a dance studio in Monterey Park during the Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday night. He will meet with the families of the victims and with Brandon Tsay, the 26-year-old worker who disarmed the gunman at a second dance club.
