Chris Christie, acandidate for the candidacy of the Republican Party for the presidential elections next year, criticized the lack of seriousness with which Donald Trump took the first debate between his political rivals by refusing to attend and again called him a coward.
The accusation of the former New Jersey governor occurred after, In a radio program, the former president accepted the hypothetical proposal to debate with Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.
Radio host Hugh Hewitt asked Trump if he would be willing to have an exchange of ideas with Prince Harry and Meghan to boost ratings.
And in response, jokingly, the 77-year-old New Yorker immediately agreed.
“If you want to set it up, let’s do it. I would love to debate with her. I would love it,” she stated.
Upon learning of the willingness shown by the favorite candidate in the Republican polls to issue these types of statements, Chris Christie attacked him for considering his proposal absurd due to his fear of truly debating against his opponents in the political arena.
“Does Donald Trump want to debate Meghan Markle, but not her opponents? What a joke. I’m sure they would have a great debate on Spotify. He says so many ridiculous things. I think there is absolutely no interest in Donald Trump or Meghan Markle debating anything“, he pointed out on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter.
In addition, The 61-year-old candidate reminded citizens that the nation demands serious options to move the country forward on issues with the economy, education and crime.
“If people really want the real issues affecting their lives to be discusseds, like inflation, our role in the world, a troubled education system, crime and law and order in our cities, we need to have serious candidates in that scenario“, he stressed.
And just as he did before last month’s candidate debate in Milwaukee, Christie once again highlighted the cowardice of Donald Trump.
“Keep me on stage for when the coward finally shows up to debate me.” he concluded.
