As I speak now, there is an ongoing industry-scale massacre of Amharas in Wollega province of Western Ethiopia, carried out in the most gruesome and cruel fashion by the Oromo Liberation Army (OLF), the armed wing of the OLF that is armed and financed by Abiy Ahmed’s regime.
This active genocidal war that is leaving hundreds of women and children dead almost daily, and causes massive displacement of tens of thousands of Amharas should be front-page news and top story of international media outlets such as CNN, CNN International, BBC News, Al Jazeera English, Washington Post, FRANCE 24, AP, Voice of America – VOA and Reuters.
However, there has been no news coverage of this ongoing genocidal war. Aside from some brief, vague reports of a generalized “death of civilians”, and a routine distortion of the nature of the genocide by presenting it as the usual African ethnic explosion, and ethnic tension, blah blah, there is a wall of silence among all the major news outlets of the world to report the active state-sponsored genocidal war declared on Amharas while they are and still spending endless time covering the war TPLF has started in November of last years.
Why all this media blackout and international silence? Why the lenses of CNN, CNN International, BBC News, Al Jazeera English, Washington Post, FRANCE 24, AP, Voice of America – VOA and Reuters do not see or don’t want to see the genocidal war committed every day in Ethiopia on the Amhara people by Abiy Ahmed backed rebels?
I have one last call to these international media outlets; if you are reporting the active genocidal war declared on Amharas of Ethiopia in Wollega by OLF’s OLA, a terrorist group armed and financed by Abiy Ahmed’s regime, please do not tell us about your usual vague reports of ethnic tension, death of civilians, etc. to exacerbate our disappointment and add insult to injury.
If you got the courage to say few words about the active genocide of Amharas in western Ethiopia, please call it by its name, i.e., the genocide of Amharas of Ethiopia, and tell your respective governments and the UN to act and stop this active genocidal war perpetrated by Abiy Ahmed’s regime and his proxy, the OLA.
