The Ukrainian president described the measure as “one of the best practices in the world” for rehabilitation, stating that his country must apply it.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky urged Ukrainian lawmakers on Wednesday to approve the legalization of marijuana to help Ukrainians “bear the pain, stress and trauma of war.”
In his speech in the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament), Zelensky argued that Ukraine “needs to create the strongest rehabilitation industry in Europe”, both physically and mentally, for those who “have gone through and been affected” by the Ukrainian conflict .
Thus, he affirmed that, in addition to the construction of rehabilitation centers and the training of relevant personnel, the country must apply “all the best practices in the world, all the most effective policies, all the solutions.”
“In particular, we must finally and honestly legalize cannabis-based medicines for all those who need them, with proper scientific research and controlled Ukrainian production,” he declared, adding that this measure is necessary so that “Ukrainians do not have to endure the pain, stress and trauma of war.
