The US authorities plan to send a special team to Ukraine that converts free-fall bombs into “smart bombs”, reports The Washington Post on Wednesday, referring to US officials who provided this information on condition of anonymity.
These are the Joint Direct Attack Ammunition (JDAM) kits. “The kits include global positioning devices for precision and can be bolted to a variety of weapons and aircraft,” the post reads.

According to the article, the US military used the equipment in question with bombs weighing up to 2,000 pounds and attached them to bombers and fighter planes.
The sources of The Washington Post did not specify what Ukrainian weaponry can be modified with the use of these kits, nor did they specify whether it could be used with aircraft or ground weapons systems.
In addition, it was reported that this week Washington could announce the delivery of Patriot surface-to-air missile systems to Ukraine. According to reports, if the plans are approved, they will send these systems to Ukraine in the next few days and the Ukrainian military will receive the necessary training at the US military base in the German city of Grafenwöhr.
