    VIDEO: Russian soldiers help deal with the consequences of strong earthquakes in Syria

    More than 300 troops and 60 units of specialized equipment participate in the work.

    Russian military personnel were deployed in Syria on Monday to provide assistance in regions affected by the devastating earthquakes that took place this day in Turkey and affected neighboring countries, causing hundreds of deaths and the destruction of thousands of buildings.

    Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu ordered the group of Russian troops in Syria to help remedy the consequences of the earthquakes. In this way, the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation established six humanitarian aid points in several cities in that country, including Aleppo, Latakia and Hama.

    In addition, a group of Russian military doctors ready to be deployed in the affected areas was formed at the Khmeimim airbase, while four blood donation points and an operational headquarters were established to coordinate actions.

    The tremors were felt in several Syrian provinces, such as Damascus and Latakia. In the Arab country, the health authorities announced that the death toll in the governorates of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama and Tartus amounted to 711. In addition, they reported that they have registered 1,431 wounded.
