The Serbian Dragiša Gudelj, from the Spanish club Cordoba CF, spent Saturday night in an Intensive Care Unit and is progressing satisfactorily. The match against Racing Club Ferrol was postponed.
Dragiša Gudelj, defender of Cordoba CF, collapsed in the middle of a match in the third division of Spanish football, during his team’s match with Racing Club Ferrol this Saturday. The 25-year-old Serb went into cardiac arrest around the 11th minute of play and was revived after an ambulance drove directly onto the pitch.

After being subjected to two electric shocks with a defibrillator, Gudelj regained consciousness. Even as he was on a stretcher heading to the ambulance, he tried to get up and rejoin the game. Of course, those present prevented him from doing so and he was transferred to a hospital located a few minutes from the stadium.
The Cordoba coach, German Crespo, thanked to his medical staff, for their quick action, and to two cardiologists who “luckily” were in the stands. According to reported the club this Sunday, ‘Dragi’ spent the night in an Intensive Care Unit and is evolving satisfactorily. The athlete’s father told the press that his son’s life is not in danger and he hopes he will be discharged soon.
Due to the unexpected incident, the match between Cordoba and Racing Club Ferrol, which was 1-1, was postponed until further notice.
