The visit of the Chinese ships to Vladivostok was the final act of the Russian-Chinese naval exercises that simulated missions to protect regional traffic routes.
A detachment of Chinese warships arrived in the Russian city of Vladivostok, in the Far East of the country, on a “working” visit, the Russian Defense Ministry reported Monday.
The Chinese ships arrived at Russia’s main Pacific port following the Russian-Chinese joint exercises Northern-Interaction-2023 in the Sea of Japan.
The five days of maneuvers included the participation of a significant number of media and people from the air and land forces of both countries.

Carried out between Thursday and Sunday of last week with the use of live ammunition, the Northern-Interaction-2023 exercises included mock anti-submarine missions, naval combat, sea and air escort of ships, surveillance and defense of detachments of ships moored at their bases, according to a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry.
The Chinese Navy assigned Type 052D Qiqihar and Guiyang destroyers, Type 054A Zaozhuang and Rizhao frigates, as well as Type 903 Taihu integral replenishment ship for the exercises.

For its part, the Russian Pacific Fleet sent the anti-submarine destroyers Admiral Tributs and Aadmiral Panteleyev, as well as the Gremiaschi and Aldar Tsydenzhapov corvettes.
Chinese state newspaper Global Times stressed that the Chinese planes operated from Russian airbases during the exercise, which “marks a high level of military cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries,” Fu Qianshao, a Chinese military aviation expert, was quoted as saying.
With the Sea of Japan in close proximity to Russian bases in the region, Chinese aircraft operating from Russian bases can significantly reduce reaction time against potential threats in the Pacific, Fu said.
