Authorities in Massachusetts have charged the driver of an SUV that crashed into an Apple Store window with reckless manslaughter, killing one and injuring at least 16, it was reported Tuesday.
The presentation of charges to Bradley Rein, 53, will take place in the next few hours and is the result of the investigation carried out by the state and local police of the crash in Hingham, southeast of Boston, said the Plymouth County prosecutor’s office.
Rein was arrested on Monday and the hearing will take place in Hingham, the prosecution said. It is not clear if he has a defense attorney.
A 2019 Toyota 4Runner crashed into a storefront glass Monday, striking several people. The deceased was identified as Kevin Bradley, 65, a resident of New Jersey.
Apple said in a statement that it was “appalled by the unfortunate events at Apple’s Derby Street and the tragic death of a professional who was in the store supervising recent construction work.”
A huge hole was left open in the window. The store had opened about an hour before the crash.
