Two Americans and one Briton were killed and 12 wounded in a missile attack in Iraq

The US military announced on Wednesday that three members of the international coalition had been killed and 12 wounded in a missile attack on Taji camp, north of Baghdad.

Agence France-Presse reported that two American and British soldiers and an American contractor were killed in a 10-Katyusha rocket attack on Wednesday evening targeting the Iraqi military base of Taji, which houses American soldiers north of Baghdad.

Earlier, the Iraqi Army’s security media cell said in a statement that Katyusha rockets had landed inside the Taji camp without damage, but the Pentagon later announced that three people were killed and 12 wounded.

The Security Media Cell indicated that a platform was found containing three missiles remaining south of the Rashidiya area, south of the Taji district.

The Taji camp is located in a district of the same name, 35 km north of the capital, Baghdad, and it hosts American and other foreign forces from the international coalition to fight the Islamic State.

However, similar attacks targeting American soldiers and diplomats or US facilities in Iraq have previously killed an American contractor and an Iraqi soldier.

None of these attacks was adopted, but Washington accuses Iraqi factions loyal to Iran of being responsible for them.

In early January, the United States assassinated an air raid of the plane of the commander of the Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani, and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, deputy chief of the Popular Mobilization Authority, along with a number of their comrades near Baghdad airport, which led to the escalation of tension between Washington and Tehran, which responded by targeting Iraqi bases. There are Americans.

It is noteworthy that there are about five thousand American soldiers deployed in military bases in various parts of Iraq.
