A vacuum designed to clean in wet or dry environments should not threaten to burn you or your home. That’s why Bissell recalled about 65,300 cordless vacuums on Thursday.
As the US Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall alert stated: “The circuit board of the vacuum’s battery may overheat and smoke, posing a fire hazard.”
The alert says Bissell has received 66 reports that the vacuum cleaner “smokes and emits a burning odor.” The battery pack caught fire in five of those cases, “three of which resulted in minor property damage and one resulted in a burn injury.”
This affects models 2551, 2551W and 25519. Bissell wants to give consumers a free replacement battery.
