    Most travelers in the US want vacations without doing anything

    What do people want to do on their holidays at the beginning of the year after the exhausting holiday season?

    Go somewhere with warm weather and do absolutely nothing, according to a report from the travel app Expedia.

    The report revealed that the overscheduled holiday season has led many Americans to plan a “vacation doing nothing,” while 60% of 1,500 Hispanics surveyed said doing nothing is time “well spent.”

    73% said they feel refreshed and recharged after a “vacation with nothing”.

    Of the 4,000 US travelers to consulates in December, more than a third (34%) reported feeling exhausted from vacation, and nearly all of those surveyed (96%) plan to spend a portion of their next trip doing absolutely nothing.

    “There is a time and a place for an action-packed vacation itinerary, but our data shows that the first trip after the hectic holiday season requires a more relaxed schedule,” says Melanie Fish, Expedia’s director of brand PR. Group.

    Rest on vacation doing nothing

    He explained that for most travelers, making the most of their next vacation means setting aside time to do nothing.

    According to Expedia research, almost half (47%) of travelers said they like to start the new year with a trip as a remedy after feeling anxious (31%) or tired of cold and rainy weather.

    62% agree that “doing nothing” is their favorite part of vacation and consider it time well spent (61%).

    Parents of young children (under age 4) have a particular need to do nothing, reporting higher levels of post-holiday exhaustion than average (49% vs. 34%).

    They prefer to watch movies in bed, read and order hotel room service instead of dining out, according to the survey.

    On average, around a quarter of planned getaways during the first month of the year are to beach destinations, and many hotspots, including Cancun, Riviera Maya, Punta Cana and Oahu, are already seeing double-digit increases in travel. demand compared to the same period in 2019, Expedia said.
