Trump’s former military adviser: We say that Ukraine is “perfect” and Russia “terrible” but the truth is different

Douglas MacGregor denounced that the fact that the kyiv forces have deliberately bombarded the population and civilian infrastructure is silenced.

Douglas MacGregor, who was a military adviser during the last months of Donald Trump’s presidency, noted in an interview with The Grayzone that the Ukrainian military has deliberately targeted Russian civilian infrastructure, while the Russians are “cautious” and “meticulous” in choosing his objectives.

“We have to understand something: the Russians have not deliberately targeted civilians, but there is ample evidence that HIMARS has been used to deliberately target Russian civilians in Donetsk, Lugansk, Crimea and elsewhere,” MacGregor said.

The former military adviser explained that “if you are in a war and the power grid is supplying your troops and you destroy the power grid, it is not because you intend to harm civilians, you intend to deprive the military of any access to power.” .

He also denounced that in the US the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have deliberately bombarded the population and civilian infrastructure is silenced. “We never talked about it because […] Ukraine is impeccable, democratic and perfect, and Russia is evil, authoritarian and terrible”, he mentioned, adding that “the truth is that there is no pretty view on the ukrainian side“.

MacGregor also recalled that during the conflict in Kosovo in the 1990s, the US attacked not only the military infrastructure, but also a car factory, numerous bridges and a television studio. “we were very wide, very general and very generous with our use of military power,” he concluded.
