The detainees, including three teenagers, will be charged with “alleged terrorism,” the Prosecutor’s Office reported.
At least 14 people were arrested in the city of Guayaquil, capital of the Ecuadorian province of Guayas, for their alleged participation in the attacks that took place in the city at the beginning of last November.
The arrests were made in the Social Housing sector north of the city, during an operation by the National Police and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), in which they carried out 14 raids.
The FGE explained that these 14 people, including three adolescents, would be members of the criminal gang ‘Los Lobos’ and “they would have participated in the terrorist acts of November”.
The detainees, indicated the Prosecutor’s Office, were transferred to the Flagrancy Unit and the adolescents were isolated. They will be charged with “alleged terrorism.”
In the operation, three vehicles, four firearms, 13 cell phones, 50 ammunition and explosives were seized.
The attacks
At the beginning of November there were explosive attacks, including the use of car bombs in Guayaquil, and also in the provinces of Esmeraldas and Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas.
The attacks occurred in different places, mainly outside the Community Police Units (UPC) and at gas stations.
After that, the Government decreed a state of emergency in these three entities for a period of 45 days, a period that expires this Thursday.
