The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Marketa Pekarova Adamova, plans to make a trip to the island of Taiwan at the end of March, considered by China as part of its territory. The delegation will also include businessmen, regional representatives and members of scientific organizations, according to the local agency CTK.
That same day, Adamova held a videoconference meeting with the island’s chancellor, Jospeh Wu, in which she discussed the future visit. “Taiwan is a major partner and investor in high technology: a great opportunity to further deepen economic cooperation,” tweeted.
Jednani s tchaj-wanským ministerem zahraniči Josephem Wu. Hovořili jsme o me planovane cestě do Asie, kdy navštivim Jižni Koreu a pravě Tchaj-wan. 🇹🇼 je důležitý partner an investor v oblasti špičkových technologii – velka přiležitost pro ještě hlubši ekonomickou spolupraci. pic.twitter.com/PpYeMtH7My

It is not the first time that high-ranking Czech politicians have visited Taiwan, as in 2020 the president of the Senate, Milos Vystrcil, already made a trip to the island. Meanwhile, the Czech president-elect, Petr Pavel, had a telephone conversation with the Taiwanese leader, Tsai Ing-wen, on Monday, which earned the condemnation of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
