Fuel shortages have been causing riots in the streets and long lines at gas stations for more than a month in various regions of France.
The French Senate gave the go-ahead to legalize the use of Edible oils as fuel, reports Le Monde.
Although in July the bill proposed by ecologist deputies was approved by the National Assembly in first reading, the senators rejected it. Currently, the position of the French Senate on this issue has changed, since not opposed tailored, but the limits to the private vehicle fleets of companies or communities.

“It should be noted that today the rates of pollution, emissions into the atmosphere, they are still too high“, indicated the general relator of the budget Jean-Francois Husson to justify the limitation.
However, this alternative fuel “emits 90% less of greenhouse gases than conventional diesel, emits far fewer fine particles, and costs much less than fossil fuels,” supporters of the initiative say, according to the media.
In addition, they maintain that from 10 liters of used oil and “adequately filtered”, 8 liters of fuel can be produced.
