In the capital of Argentina, a photographic exhibition was presented in homage to the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.
Different Latin American countries joined the Cosmonautics Day celebrations this Wednesday, which commemorates the first human trip to space, made 62 years ago by the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.
On the occasion of the celebration, at the Humboldt Planetarium in the Venezuelan capital, a ceremony which also had the participation of the Russian ambassador in Caracas, Sergei Melik-Bagdasarov.
In addition, the Russian ambassador visited the place where two years ago a tree was planted on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Gagarin’s flight. A time capsule with a message for future generations had been placed in the place.

At the same time, in the Ecuadorian capital, Quito, a university inaugurated the Yuri Gagarin center, where a bust of the Soviet cosmonaut was installed. During the ceremony, videos were projected with words of thanks for the opening of that space, and even Russian cosmonauts sent greetings from the International Space Station.
The Planetarium of Bogota, in Colombia, also commemorated the date with the show ‘Yuri’s Night’where a live talk was offered under the stars projected on the dome.
Meanwhile, the Casa Rusa in Buenos Aires, the company Roscosmos and the Galileo Galilei Planetarium presented a photographic exhibition titled ‘Gagarin. The first in space’. These are archive photographs that are projected on outdoor screens 24 hours a day. For her part, the director of Casa Rusa, Olga Muratova, assured that in Argentina they know and love the Soviet cosmonaut.
