The drug trafficker, arrested in 2017 in Brazil, and extradited to US territory in 2021, was one of the leaders of a gang known as Los Cuinis.
The brother-in-law of Nemesio Oseguera, alias ‘El Mencho’, leader of the Jalisco Nueva Generacion Cartel (CJNG), pleaded guilty to international drug trafficking before the US authorities. According to the Department of Justice, Jose Gonzalez Valencia accepted the charges against him during a hearing held this Thursday before the District Court of Columbia.
The drug trafficker, arrested in 2017 in Brazil and extradited to the US in November 2021, is considered one of the leaders of the Los Cuinis gang, an organized crime cell linked to the Jalisco Nueva Generacion Cartel, is dedicated to to import large quantities of cocaine from Mexico, Colombia and Guatemala to the US.
Gonzalez Valencia, alias ‘Chepa’, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine for importation into the United States. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 7, 2023 and faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison.
