    The Brazilian Police rescues a woman who had been buried alive in a cemetery

    Gravediggers called authorities after realizing that a structure, which had traces of blood around it, was sealed off with bricks and fresh cement.

    A 36-year-old woman was rescued from the grave where two men had buried her, allegedly for misplacing a load of weapons and drugs, in the municipality of Visconde do Rio Branco in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.

    As detailed in a statement by the Military Police, the cemetery gravediggers called the authorities when they realized that a structure, which had traces of blood around it, was closed with bricks and fresh cement.

    Upon arrival, the agents heard “cries for help” and after breaking the tombstone they found the woman, who presented “head injuries and various cuts to the body”.

    They immediately called the Mobile Emergency Service (SAMU), which was in charge of transferring her to the hospital. In a video circulating on social networks, one of the agents shows the grave.

    The victim reported that she was at home with her husband, when “two hooded men” entered and began to attack them. According to her testimony, her husband managed to escape.

    “From there, he does not remember anything else, until he wakes up in the grave,” the statement added.

    According to the woman’s statements, days before she had kept “weapons and drugs for two individuals and the material had been lost.”

    “The intelligence service identified that the victim is involved in drug use, drug trafficking and robbery. Two possible suspects, aged 20 and 22, have been identified and have not yet been located,” the text concludes.
