The soldiers were part of a joint force of troops from both countries that had been fighting in recent days with the Rapid Support Forces in the Sudanese border city of Geneina.
At least a dozen Chadian Army soldiers were killed and another 150 wounded during armed clashes with fighters from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group in the Darfur border region of Sudan.

The wounded soldiers were repatriated to Chad, from where they were transferred to a regional hospital in the city of Adre.

The international medical and humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders, which is in Adre facing the arrival of people from the neighboring nation, says that approximately 6,000 people have fled Geneina and have taken refuge there in recent days.
“At least 242 injured were received on June 15 alone. With an additional 50 injured people brought to the Adre hospital today, a total of at least 324 injured patients have already been received in the past three days, of whom some 130 need care. surgery,” the agency revealed on Friday.
