Russian President Vladimir Putin has decreed partial mobilization in the country.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stated in an interview on Wednesday that Russia is not fighting only Ukraine but NATO and the West. His comments come after President Vladimir Putin decreed partial mobilization in the country.
According to Shoigu, during the clashes kyiv has lost half of its Army: “Ukraine was represented by about 201,000-202,000 men. During that time, more than 100,000 of them were lost,” he said.
The latest figures revealed by the minister indicate that Ukraine has lost 61,207 troops and has another 49,368 wounded, which is a fairly significant loss, which is why they have already had the fourth wave of mobilization, he stressed.
Likewise, the head of Defense highlighted that 300,000 reservists will be summoned in a partial mobilization announced by President Putin.
Putin declared his support for the Russian Defense Ministry’s proposal to decree partial military mobilization in the country. According to the president, only those who are in the reserve, have served in the Armed Forces and have relevant skills and experience will be recruited for military service. There will be no mobilization of university students or those who do compulsory military service, the minister stressed.
He also pointed out that the mobilization activities would begin this Wednesday, September 21. Putin has explained that he has adopted the measure “to defend the Homeland, its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
