The incident occurred last Tuesday during a performance by the popular alternative rock band in the Italian town of Stupinigi.
The Italian authorities have opened an investigation against the leader of the British alternative rock band Placebo, Brian Molko, for publicly insulting the Italian Prime Minister, the far-right Giorgia Meloni, last Tuesday, the Ansa agency reported on Monday.
“Georgia Meloni, piece of shit, fascist, racist”, Molko is heard shouting from the stage during a performance in the Italian town of Stupinigi, Turin province. The controversial moment was captured by concert attendees and later published on social networks.

After what happened, the Turin Prosecutor’s Office opened a file for contempt of Italian institutions after a complaint filed by the carabinieri. So far, the artist has not commented on the matter.
According to the Italian Penal Code, public denigration of the Republic, the Legislative Assemblies, the Government, the Constitutional Court or the Judicial Order, is considered a crime and is punishable by a fine of up to 5,000 euros (about $5,600).
