Warning sirens sounded Sunday in the Jerusalem area, for the first time since the start of the ongoing armed escalation with the Islamic Jihad group in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army announced.

The main “military” leaders in Gaza of the Islamic Jihad have been “neutralized” in the past two days during strikes by the Israeli army targeting the Palestinian armed group, she said on Saturday.

Israel arrests 20 Islamic Jihad operatives in West Bank
Twenty members of the Palestinian group Islamic Jihad were arrested overnight by Israeli security forces in the occupied West Bank, the army announced on Sunday, amid a deadly escalation in the Gaza Strip.
During several raids, “about 20 suspects belonging to the terrorist organization Islamic Jihad were arrested” across the West Bank, Palestinian territory occupied by the Jewish state since 1967, the army reported in a press release.
The death toll rises to 32, including six children, according to the Palestinian authorities.
Thirty-two people, including six children, have died in the Gaza Strip since the outbreak of violence between Israel and the Islamic Jihad group, the Ministry of Health in the Palestinian enclave announced on Sunday.
The ministry said the victims had been killed since Friday in Israeli strikes that also injured 215.
The Israeli authorities contradict this assessment and assure that Palestinian children were killed on Saturday by a failed rocket attack from Islamic Jihad towards Israel.
