Lula da Silva and Guillermo Lasso hold a meeting focused on social programs

The president of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, received his Ecuadorian counterpart Guillermo Lasso on Monday at the Itamaraty Palace, seat of government in Brasilia. The bilateral meeting, held hours after the inauguration of the new Brazilian president, who was sworn in on Sunday, January 1, had as its axis the possible coordination between both countries in social programs.

As reported by the Secretariat of Communication of the Presidency of Ecuador, the leaders spoke about the Ecuadorian program focused on the fight against chronic child malnutrition and the Brazilian initiative called Bolsa Familia, “on which it is planned to establish spaces for coordination and exchange of experiences to strengthen them.” They also exchanged points of view on the fight against transnational crime, the security of both countries and the protection of the Amazon.
