The former Peruvian president thanked through a letter for the support that the Mexican government gave his wife and children.
The president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, met this Monday with Guido Croxatto, lawyer for the former president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, who was removed from office in December 2022 by the Congress of that country and was later placed in preventive detention. for the alleged crimes of criminal organization, aggravated collusion and influence peddling.
“I met with Guido Croxatto, Pedro Castillo’s lawyer, the president who was illegally impeached and is unjustly imprisoned suffering from classism and racism that sadly prevails in Peru,” said the Mexican president.
Lopez Obrador commented that Castillo also sent him a letter, which he shared on his social networks. In the letter, the former Peruvian president expresses his gratitude to Mexico for the support they have given “to the just struggles of Peru”.

Castillo also thanked his wife and children for the help in Mexico, where they have been granted asylum since last December when the former president of Peru was also deprived of his liberty.
In the letter he also warns Lopez Obrador that “racism”, injustices and abuses against the indigenous peoples of Peru continue. In addition, he informed him that the lawyer Croxatto is responsible for his defense.
