    Kenya: Raila condemns early campaigns over the incident that transpired in Muranga

    Former prime minister Raila Odinga has called upon the government and law enforcement to take serious action on politicians involved in the incident that transpired in Kenol Muranga County on Sunday during a function attended by Deputy President William Ruto. In a statement today morning, the ODM leader expressed his deep concern over the occurrence stating that such actions could trigger re occurrence of political chaos.[1]

    Raila condemned early political campaigns for the presidential seat that is over two years away and urged politicians to focus on building the nation. He cautioned that if at all such incidents reoccurred, it would stagnate the economy and country as a whole leaving the government with little to offer for the remaining two years. He also appealed to political leaders to stop the radicalization of youth with the purpose of revitalizing political temperature. ODM lawmaker and Chairman of the party John Mbadi on the other had have pointed an accusing finger to the Deputy President stating that he should stop selling his ‘hustler’ idea to Kenyans citing he is to blame for the incident. “Ruto must be stopped and should stop using his hustler narrative”

    Ruto’s visit has however claimed the life of two people in Muranga over violence attacks between two groups that occurred hours before the arrival of the DP. The two families of the victims 15 years Peter mbogu and Christopher Kariuki 21 years are calling upon the government to ensure justice is served for what transpired on Sunday ultimately leading to the death of their loved ones. Peter and his friends are said to have decided to head to Kenol over the news that the DP would make an appearance and perhaps offer hand outs.[2]

    Grace wahome the Mp of kandara and Kiharu mp Ndindi Nyoro did not honour summons by the Directorate of criminal investigations over the incident that occurred in Kenol. The two claim to have not received any sermon. The two according to the DCI in Nyeri were summoned to make an appearance at the regional office to make a statement over what transpired in Kenol. This is after the National Transport and Safety Authority(NTSA) had summoned officials of Neo Kenya Mpya commuters limited and Joy Kenya services limited busses owners for being on the forefront of ferrying youths from Thika to Muranga.

    Ndindi Nyoro however insists he is innocent and had nothing to do with the incident but went ahead to tell the Interior of Security he was not up to any meetings and summons.
    “I want to tell Matiangi, Kinuti and Mutyambai I am busy” Ndindi Nyoro said.
    Backing his claims Grace Wahome denied being summoned by any directorate. “No single officer of the government in this particular county has called me, even our county commissioner,how did they find a report”. Ruto’s allies and also their counterparts have however castigated the arrest of the two leaders citing that the police are to blame over the turmoil.
    “Inspector General of Police is playing politics because the leaders at the president’s office know where the funds came from,” said Kimani Ichungwa MP Kikuyu.
    Leaders from Muranga county have condemned the incident calling for stern actions on perpetrators. Led by the Governor of the county Mwangi Wairia, the county government confirmed that the governor would steer all political events moving forward to avoid such violence in future. No one is yet to be apprehended over the incident as the two family plan for the burial of their loved ones and are yet to come to the terms they are no more. Political leaders continue to plan their next meeting and campaigns as Ruto’s next visit is set to be Muranga.
