Previously, the president of the Citizen Revolution Movement announced that Glas will be the candidate for the presidency.
Jorge Glas has declined this Saturday the presidential candidacy of Ecuador and has proposed the formula Luisa Gonzalez-Andres Arauz.
Previously, the president of the Citizen Revolution Movement, Marcela Aguinaga, announced that Glas will be the candidate for the presidency. “I’m still under attack, more criminal proceedings,” Glas asserted, adding that it is known that “they are conspiring so that the couple of the Citizen Revolution has setbacks in their registration.”

Glas was twice vice president of the nation for his party, the first time accompanying Rafael Correa from 2013 to 2017 and the second time with Lenin Moreno from 2017 to 2021. However, in 2017, after taking office, Glas denounced corruption in the new government.
Gonzalez was a member of the assembly for the province of Manabi.

The electoral process generates high expectations, in the midst of the strong political crisis that the nation is going through and that led to the early departure of the president and the dissolution of the assembly. Ecuador will go to the polls on August 20 after President Guillermo Lasso dissolved the National Assembly in May in the midst of a political trial against him, and called early elections shortening his own term as provided by the Constitution.
More information, shortly.
