The president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, celebrated this Monday that his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, assumed the third term last Sunday.
“We’re very happy with the arrival of President Lula, it was quite an event because it is the return of a popular project, not an oligarchic one,” said the head of the Mexican state during his usual morning conference.
The president recalled the harsh judicial “onslaught” faced by the leader of the Workers’ Party (PT), who spent 580 days in prison “unfairly”, for which he considered his return to power heroic.
“He succeeded, despite the fact that they used a lot of money, public and private, to prevent him from succeeding and He did it with the support of the people.“Lopez Obrador highlighted.
On the other hand, he explained that after the inauguration ceremony, Lula approached the representative of Mexico, Beatriz Gutierrez Muller, wife of Lopez Obrador, to express his desire to visit the country.
“President Lula told him [a Gutierrez Muller] who wants to come, what will come soonwho very much wants to be in our country,” the president announced.
By the way, Lopez Obrador announced that his Brazilian counterpart will always be welcome, not only because Mexico and Brazil are “sister nations“, but because their governments share objectives and a common perspective.
In this sense, the president highlighted Lula da Silva’s intention to fight against injustice and inequality in Brazil, as well as to maintain a project focused on the people.
