    Israeli forces kill Palestinian during ‘unprecedented’ raid on West Bank shelter

    Since the start of 2023, it is the seventh death caused by the Israeli military, including three children, and the third in the last 24 hours.

    A Palestinian was killed by Israeli forces during a raid on a West Bank shelter early Thursday morning, the Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed.

    The victim, identified as Sameer Aslan, 41 years old and father of eight children, was on the roof from his home in the Qalandia camp, watching the raid with other family members, when he received the shot in his chest of an Israeli sniper. A few minutes earlier, her 17-year-old son had been arrested by the Israeli Army.

    “[Tras el disparo] his children put him down and tried to take him to the hospital. A large Army force stopped them and put Sameer to the ground. They left him bleeding on the floor for a while before they let us take him back. He passed away on arrival at the hospital,” Zakariya Fayyaleh, the camp’s administrator, was quoted as saying by Al Jazeera.

    “This is the first time they have raided the camp in this way: the size of the force, the number of houses they raided. They destroyed people’s belongings, they even attacked women,” Fayyaleh denounced, describing the raid as “unprecedented.” .

    For their part, the Israeli forces through a Twitter message they assured that they were carrying out an operation during which they were attacked with “stones and cement blocks from the roofs in such a way that the lives were endangered” of the soldiers who “responded by dispersing the demonstration and shooting.” The statement adds that “an injury was detected” but says nothing about Aslan’s death.
