Kashmir was almost missing from the eyes of the country and the world for the last few months. But once again the attention of the entire country has shifted to Kashmir, mainly because of Mehbooba Mufti. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti was released on Tuesday. Government spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir administration Rohit Kansal gave this information. On August 5, 2019, Section 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir, after which prominent leaders were put under house arrest. Mehbooba is releasing after 14 months.
PDP-BJP Alliance
In 2016, Mehbooba Mufti took the oath of the Chief Minister for the first time. She became the first lady Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. BJP was involved in this feat as the government was formed from the BJP-PDP alliance.
The central government of the same BJP abolished Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Mehbooba was earlier detained under sections 107 and 151 of the CRPC. But a few days later he was placed under house arrest under the PSA(Public Safety Act). The same happened to other leaders of the valley with him.
Mehbooba was first kept in the Cheshma Shahi Guest House, after which she was shifted to another guest house on MA Link Road. Here too Mehbooba was not kept for long, she was then put under house arrest.
Mehbooba’s Twitter message
After being released from jail after so many days, the PDP leader addressed the public of Jammu and Kashmir through twitter. She said about the struggles and described the situation as a stalker of the Modi government. She told the Kashmiris through a video of 1:23 seconds on Twitter that she can never forget the black judgment that came on that dark day. Even after 1 year, that decision strikes his heart and soul. He further said that all the people of Jammu and Kashmir would have felt the same. No person can forget that insult and dacoity. Everyone will have to take back what was illegally snatched on 5 August.
She further says that she knows that this path will not be easy but she will get success. She wants the release of all the people in Jammu and Kashmir who are jailed due to government policies.
Contribution of the Supreme Court in release
Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter Iltija filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding her mother’s release. During its hearing last month, the Supreme Court had asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta as to how long and under which order the central government is keeping Mehbooba in custody. The court had asked Tusshar Mehta to file a reply on the application filed by Iltija within a week.
The court said that one cannot always be kept in custody, some way should be found. The Supreme Court advised Mehbooba Mufti to request the officers so that she could attend the party meetings.
Farooq Abdula and Omar Abdullah
Along with Mehbooba Mufti, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah were also detained. He has already been released. PSA was also used for both. After leaving, both these leaders had appealed to release all the detained leaders, including Mehbooba. However, even after release, the two leaders had failed to attract the attention of the country.
The removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir was an important electoral issue of the Bharatiya Janata Party. For this issue, a large part of the Indian public brought PM Modi to power for the second time. As per his promise, Section 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir.
But the main thing is that the Modi government choose the easiest method to remove Article 370. The intellectuals of the country believed that this work is very difficult. The leaders of Kashmir used to come to power with all anti-BJP issues. But with the cleanliness with which the Modi government repealed Article 370, the promises of all the leaders were broken. However, every effort was made to stop the voices of leaders and the public of Jammu and Kashmir.
The situation in Jammu and Kashmir is no longer the same. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah have been released earlier but there is no concrete indication from their side that a change can be expected. Even after so many days of release, the condition is the same. In such a situation, it is not right to keep the possibility of any change due to the release of Mehbooba Mufti. The Modi government is known for its hard decisions and adherence. The Ram temple of Ayodhya and Jammu Kashmir is a witness to this. The Congress party is also not taking a clear stand on this. Especially given the condition of the opposition government in this country, the path of the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir is very difficult.
