The former Bolivian president warned that the toxic gases released after the accident will affect the lives of Americans and the global ecological balance.
The former president of Bolivia Evo Morales demanded this Thursday that the US president, Joe Biden, explain to the world everything related to the environmental disaster that occurred in Ohio at the beginning of February and that could cause damage in the future.
“We demand that President Biden explain to the world the causes and consequences of the Ohio environmental disaster. The release of industrial quantities of vinyl chloride and deadly substances will affect the lives of the American people and the global ecological balance,” Morales denounced via Twitter.
Morales believes that the US government has not explained in detail the facts surrounding the incident in Ohio, and instead has arrested journalists trying to report on the situation.
Instead of explaining, they arrest journalists and try to divert the attention of public opinion. With its arms interventionism and its capitalist policies that contradict its environmental discourse, the US government is the greatest danger to the world and humanity.

What happened in Ohio?
The derailment of a train in East Palestine, Ohio, on February 3 caused a large fire and the evacuation of the population in the area near the accident was ordered.
The mayor of the town, Trent Conaway, later declared a state of emergency in the area and explained that the wagons in the accident were carrying toxic and dangerous substances.
Last Monday, specialists began to release toxic substances into the air from five tank wagons that were overturned. During controlled combustion hydrogen chloride and phosgene released into the aira toxic gas used as a weapon in World War I.

The US Environmental Protection Agency reported that ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, ethylhexyl acrylate and isobutylene were also found in the affected railcars.
Sil Caggiano, a specialist in hazardous materials, warned that ethylhexyl acrylate is a carcinogenic substance which on contact can cause burning of the skin and eyes. Its inhalation can irritate the nose and throat, in addition to causing respiratory distress. While isobutylene causes dizziness and drowsiness when inhaled.
In the midst of the emergency, a NewsNation correspondent, Even Lambert, was detained during a press conference about the accident, given by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.
