The boss of SpaceX and X (formerly Twitter) confirms that he refused to activate the Starlink signal, thus preventing Ukrainian drones from destroying Moscow’s fleet in Crimea.
Elon Musk comes out of silence. The billionaire explained on his social network X, formerly Twitter, on an element made public from his biography to be published written by Walter Isaacson. In this book it is stated that Elon Musk personally prevented a Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian naval fleet in Crimeaasking SpaceX engineers to cut off the Starlink signal.
“Government authorities [ukrainiennes] asked to urgently activate Starlink to Sevastopol,” says the billionaire. “It was obvious that their intention was to sink the Russian fleet.”
“If I had accepted their request, then SpaceX would have been openly complicit in an act of war and an escalation of conflict,” writes Elon Musk.
Elon Musk called for a truce to be signed by kyiv and Moscow. “Every day that passes, more young Ukrainians and young Russians die to gain and lose a few small areas, the borders barely changing,” laments the boss of X.
Thanks from Moscow
A few hours earlier, Dmitri Medvedev, former Russian president, thanked him for this decision.
“If what [le journaliste Walter] Isaacson wrote in his book is true, so it seems that Musk is the last sane mind in North America. Or, at the very least, in a ‘genderless’ America, he’s the only one with balls,” wrote the vice chairman of Putin’s powerful security council.
The billionaire has mentioned the war in Ukraine several times since the start of the conflict in February 2022, in particular by offering his help to the Ukrainians thanks to his Starlink satellite system.
Last October, he also distinguished himself by proposing a peace plan on his social networks. Elon Musk proposed repeating the referendums on the annexation of the eastern regions of Ukraine, but this time under UN supervision. He also suggested establishing the neutrality of Ukraine and the definitive attachment of Crimea to Russia.
This plan was widely criticized by kyiv. “My very diplomatic response is to show you off,” replied the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany Andriï Melnyk, for example.
