    Fires in Greece: the Quai d’Orsay gives a number to “facilitate the departure” of French nationals

    The country is in the grip of violent fires. A team from the French Embassy was dispatched to Rhodes airport.

    French nationals present in Greece can seek help from the French embassy to be repatriated. This Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs communicated a series of numbers intended for its nationals present in the country, where many fires are raging, in particular in Rhodes where evacuations are being carried out.

    “A team from the French Embassy in Greece, in conjunction with the Greek authorities, has been dispatched to Rhodes airport to guide our nationals and facilitate the departure of those who wish”, writes the Quai d’Orsay, as reported by France Info.

    A “desk” at Rhodes airport

    On Twitter, the embassy clarified that a “desk France” has been opened at the gate of Rhodes International Airport, on the departures side.

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has specified a number that the French in Greece can contact if necessary: 00 30 210 339 12 00. They can also use the following numbers to reach the Greek Crisis Center: 00 30 210 368 12 59 And 00 30 210 368 13 50.

    Some 30,000 people have been evacuated from the Greek island of Rhodes. It is “the largest evacuation operation ever carried out” in the country, according to Konstantia Dimoglidou, the police spokesperson. Among the evacuees, French people, like Camille, who expressed the ambient “panic” as the flames approached “dangerously”.
