    Chinese ambassador arrives in North Korea

    The arrival of the new Chinese ambassador shows the reopening of North Korea, amid rumors about the serious problems it was facing due to covid-19 and food shortages.

    Chinese diplomat Wang Yajun has taken office as China’s new ambassador to North Korea, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning announced at a press conference on Tuesday.

    Wang arrived in Pyongyang on Monday and, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, will play “an important role in advancing the traditional friendship and cooperationbetween both nations.

    “China and North Korea are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers“, stressed Mao, who added that in recent years the bilateral relations between Beijing and Pyongyang “have entered a new historical period and have continued to advance.”
