The flames have claimed the lives of 24 people, according to data from the authorities.
Members of the Chilean Carabineros help contain the fires that take place in the center and south of the country with water-launching tactical cars, the same ones that have been used in protests in the South American nation.
The institution reported that with this vehicle they collaborate in activities to fight the flames and “move the fire away from nearby homes” in the Coronei sector of the Ninhue commune, in the Nuble region, one of the most affected by the fires.
One of these vehicles was also used in the Portezuelo commune, also in the Nuble region. “We thank the Niquen Fire Department for supply our tactical tank to continue extinguishing the flames”, says Carabineros on his Twitter account.

In addition to Nuble, these fires affect the regions of Biobio and La Araucania, which led the Government to declare a “State of Constitutional Exception of Catastrophe” in the three entities.
According to the authorities, the flames have claimed the lives of 24 people and about 1,000 injured. In addition, 10 citizens have been arrested for their alleged responsibility in causing the fires.
“The intentional generation of fires will be criminally prosecuted by the Government. The sentences range from 5 to 20 years,” said the Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve.
The latest report from the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred), issued on Sunday night, indicated the presence of 283 active fires.
