Putin offers three options to Wagner’s mercenaries
During this same speech on Monday evening, Vladimir Putin left three choices to the mercenaries of the Wagner group who were actors in the mutiny.
He thus offered them to join the regular army, to “return to their families and their loved ones” or to “go to Belarus”, an allied country where their boss Evgueni Prigojine is to go into exile.
On this subject, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will “very soon” deliver a speech, announced a Telegram channel close to the presidency, without specifying a date.
Putin says he gave order ‘to avoid bloodshed’
Rich day for Vladimir Putin. After a first speech at midday, the Russian president spoke again at the start of the evening.
After hailing the “resilience” of the Russian people, Putin claimed to have given the order “to avoid bloodshed” that, according to him, Ukraine and the West wanted during this abortive rebellion.
“From the beginning of the events, measures were taken on my direct instructions in order to avoid a great bloodshed,” he said.
