It is unknown which armed group was responsible for this attack, which took place the day the Colombian government resumed peace talks with the ELN.
Armed men intercepted and set fire to several cargo trucks that were circulating on one of the main highways in the Colombian department of Norte de Santander on Monday afternoon, reports the local press.
The events occurred in the sector of the curvefrom the municipality of Bucarasica, where individuals armed with rifles and dressed in security force clothing blocked the road and forced drivers to get off the trucks, and then proceed to burn them.
In this zone there are constant confrontations between the Colombian Army and the guerrillas of National Liberation Army (THE N). The FARC dissidents also have a strong presence in the sector and, for the moment, it is unknown which armed group would have been responsible for this attack.
The Association of Cargo Carriers (ATC) has condemned these “attacks” and has launched a “strong call” to the president Colombian, Gustavo Petro, to guarantee the safety of truckers and their vehicles.
The events took place the same day that the Colombian government resumed peace talks with the ELN in Venezuela.
