    Gabon “will respect all its commitments” internal and external, according to the putschists

    Gabon will respect all its commitments on the internal and external plans, promised Thursday the committee of the chiefs of the army. In the aftermath of a coup that overthrew President Ali Bongo, the putschists also promised the “gradual establishment of transitional institutions”.     In the aftermath of the putsch that overthrew Ali Bongo in Gabon, the committee of army chiefs promised Thursday, August 31 that it will respect all its commitments on the internal and external levels.

    “Brigadier General Brice Oligui Nguema, President of the Transition, wishes to reassure all donors, development partners and State creditors that all measures will be taken to guarantee compliance with the commitments of our country both externally and internally,” Colonel Ulrich Manfoumbi Manfoumbi, spokesperson for the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI), which brings together set of army corps commanders.

    Gabon’s new strongman, General Brice Oligui Nguema, will be sworn in as “transitional president” on Monday, September 4, before the Constitutional Court, the putschists also announced. General Oligui also “decided (…) on the gradual establishment of transitional institutions” in power, according to Colonel Ulrich Manfoumbi Manfoumbi.
