In Morocco, remote villages in the High Atlas were among the areas hardest hit by last week’s earthquake. Traditional terracotta houses were unlikely to be able to withstand strong shaking; houses that cracked or collapsed. Our team on the ground went to meet these inhabitants in one of the villages some 80 km from Marrakech.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the government presented a white paper which identifies “the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe” in the east of the country.
