    Flattening the mental health curve during this pandemic is Another Big Challenge

    When compared to a mental health survey carried out back in 2018 there are eighth of Americans who are mentally distressed and about one-third of the entire population has been showing signs of clinical depression and severe anxiety.

    It has also been reported that the pandemic may result in 27,644 to 154,037 deaths due to unemployment, suicide, drug overdosing.

    If not another, unexpected change, then what is it? The COVID-19 has turned our lives upside down, deteriorating all expectations that we had about waking up the next morning to spend a normal day.

    However, ever since the outbreak of this virus the global community has been facing a series of problems. Another one of those big issues is the sudden rise in the mental health curve during this pandemic.

    The psychologists have analyzed the aggravated situation and after a few investigations, they have put forward some ways to assist and treat people with mental illnesses to reduce the number of deaths caused by them.

    Before the pandemic things could have worked differently with the therapists having a face to face conversation with the patients and they could have treated them by making them attend cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy.

    However, during a time when social distance has to maintain it’s important to handle this matter tactfully and to ensure the safety of the patients.

    Clinical scientists and mental health practitioners introduced a four-tier plan that they believe could help solve this massive problem.

    The first thing that psychologists have to think about is how they are going to approach their patients and through which modes of communication they will reach out to assist them.

    However, what they also need to take into consideration is that the person or patient can easily use that form of communing in the remote area they are residing in.

    You need to make all the resources that they require easily accessible to them if you want to achieve great success at the end of the challenge.

    They can talk to them over the phone or by holding Zoom or Facetime meetings. Patients may also access resources put up over the internet – mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, web-based courses on the science of happiness or they may listen to podcasts.

    Moving on, remove the idea that only talking to a therapist could make you feel better from your mind.

    There are other methods and ways that you can choose to treat yourself. Development of peer intervention programs where a group of peers of the same status and mental health condition – could communicate with each other on online platforms.

    That will help people to express themselves and this can help treat people with severe anxiety and depression.

    Moreover, therapists can also improve people’s mental health by encouraging them to take off their body’s condition by maintaining it.

    You can suggest them to go outside and exercise or walk in the lawn, or maybe they could do it in their rooms. Even if they want to go out to walk on the street, please ensure to ask them to take all the necessary precautions needed to keep them safe from the virus.

    A therapist could also keep on getting updates on their body health, diet, and the sleeping environment as these factors do have a major effect on one’s mental condition.

    Lastly, by collecting data from therapists, psychologists on the field, and reviews from the patients. The mental health level of the population needs to be monitored to see how successful they are in flattening the mounting mental health care.
