In 1989 Tim Burton He directed one of his most successful films, “Batman”starring Michael Keaton; Seven years later she began working on a film “Superman” that would star Nicolas Cage and that was finally not filmed, after two years of pre-production. Now the director commented on the inclusion of these two characters in the blockbuster of Warner/DC “The Flash”which features Cage’s digitally manipulated image.
When interviewed for the British Film InstituteBurton spoke about it: “That gets into another issue of artificial intelligence, and that’s why I think I’m over working with the big studios. They can take what you did, “Batman” or whatever, and culturally misappropriate it, or whatever you want to call it. Even if you are a slave to disney either Warner Brothers, they can do whatever they want. So in my last years of life I find myself in a silent rebellion against all of this.”.
Regarding the failed project for the film “Superman” More than 25 years ago, Tim commented that he remembers it well, although it was disappointing that it didn’t happen: “No, I don’t regret it. I will say this: when you work so long on a project and it doesn’t happen, it affects you for the rest of your life. Because you are passionate about things, and everything is an unknown journey, and (the film) was not there yet. But it is one of those experiences that never leaves you, not even a little bit.”
