TelevisaUnivision stays with ‘La Casa de los Famosos’… Yeah, the successful reality show on Telemundo, hosted by Hector Sandarti and Jimena Gallegos would have a new owner of rights or at least would be shared.
Will it no longer be from Telemundo? Is there no longer a fourth season? Yes and no… Yes in the United States, not in Mexico. It is that unofficially we can confirm that, after an arduous negotiation, TelevisaUnivision kept the rights to ‘La Casa de los Famosos’ for Mexico and all of Latin America.
While Telemundo will continue to have the rights but only to do it for the United Statesthat is to say, You will not miss seeing it for another season on the same chainbut if you live abroad or go to another country for a few days, you will only be able to see the version made by TelevisaUnivision.
Since when will this change be effective? The signing of the new contract, where TelevisaUnivision is the new owner of ‘La Casa de los Famosos’ became effective in October of last yearso very soon we could have news of the move ‘from the house’.
Although, it might not be called ‘La Casa de los Famosos’ like the Telemundo version, but they would be thinking of giving it a new title using a word that was always associated with Televisa ‘stars’, like ‘The channel of the stars’, would be called ‘The House of the Stars’.
This reality show has nothing to do with ‘El Hotel de los Famosos’, the one being recorded in Argentina, hosted by Karina Banda and Roberto Palazuelowhich we will see on Televisa in Mexico and on UniMas or Univision, in the United States.
How does losing part of the rights to ‘La Casa de los Famosos’ affect Telemundo? It affects him a lot because the network has a large fan audience of reality in Mexico and throughout Latin Americaso it is a great loss for them.
Where will the TelevisaUnivision version be seen? On Canal de las Estrellas and possibly also on ViX, except in the United States.
Will it be the same reality show that they will do together? No! Although they will be under the same co-production, each one will have their version, their celebrities, their presenters, but what would still be in discussion if both would use the same studio-houseand if they did, how would they take turns recording?
‘La Casa de los Famosos’ debuted on Telemundo in 2021… In the first season Alicia Machado won, in the second Ivonne Montero, and at this moment the third is being done.
We contacted Telemundo to get a reaction from them to this loss. that, as we were able to find out unofficially, it had been caused by an error when buying the rights and that it would have even cost the responsible executive his job.
