Spanish actress carmen sevillaknown for movies like “The unruly”, “The revenge” and “Gypsy you had to be”passed away today at the age of 92 from complications of Alzheimer’s that he had suffered since 2009.
Born in Heliopolis, Seville, on October 16, 1930, Carmen made her debut at the age of 17 in the film “Spanish Serenade”to later share credits with Jorge Negrete in “Jalisco sings in Seville”. That gave rise to a successful career in cinema, in which films such as “The Taming of the Shrew”, “King of kings”, “The locket” and Antony and Cleopatra. Her great beauty and kind character made her win the affection of the public internationally from the beginning.
Along with his film career, Sevilla distinguished himself in music, recording more than 25 albums, as sing for you, Flamenco Ye-Ye, sandcastle and Latin love. She married in 1961 with the composer Augusto Alguero, from whom he divorced 13 years later. By then her career was in decline, so in 1978 she acted in what would be her last film, “Faces”.
However, in the 1980s the actress remarried -with the businessman Vicente Patuel Sanchez de Molina-, and a leading role in the Argentine telenovela “The White Widow” of 1986 placed it again in the taste of the public. Already in the 90s she debuted as host of the program “Telecupon”in which he would spend several years, combining that work with several very popular variety shows.
After the death of Sanchez de Molina in 2000, the actress began the last stage of her career, obtaining excellent reviews for her work for several years on the television program TVE “Neighborhood cinema”in which he presented classic films. In 2009 he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, but it was not until three years later that he made it publicly known; later he entered a residence in Aravaca, Madrid. carmen sevilla died at the Fundacion Jimenez Diaz University Hospital; survived by his son Augusto Alguerowho visited her frequently.
