    Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean announces split

    The member of the Backstreet Boys, A. J. McLean and his wife, Rochelle McLeanannounced through a joint statement that they would divorce after 11 years of marriage.

    “Marriage is hard, but it’s worth it. We have decided to temporarily separate to work on ourselves and in our marriage with the hope of building a stronger future”, both detailed.

    Both asked the media and the followers for respect and discretion in the face of this very difficult moment that the family is facing, since they have two daughters: elliott10 years old, (Elliott used to be called Ava) and lyricsOf 6.

    “The plan is to get back together and continue to nurture our love for each other and for our family. We ask for respect and privacy at this time.”, they assured.

    AJ McLean started dating Rochelle in March 2009. After 10 months of dating, the young couple got married while on a trip to Las Vegas.

    The 41-year-old stylist and the 45-year-old singer were married in December 2011 in a ceremony classified as Gothic at the Beverly Hills Hotel, which was attended by the rest of the members of the famous band Backstreet Boys.

    The couple’s road hasn’t been an easy one, as AJ announced in 2018 that he had relapsed after battling alcoholism and substance abuse issues.

    “Look, I am not ashamed to say that I have relapsed in the last year. It’s no secret that this is a disease and that it’s a daily struggle,” he said at the time. “Are my children and my wife a great support and a great inspiration? Yes, one hundred percent. But at the same time, the biggest issue I deal with is putting myself first and not my family first. Because in my opinion, that’s what you have to do: you have to put family first.”

    The singer was also in treatment for depression and binge drinking in 2001, 2002 and 2011, she is currently in constant support groups and goes to meetings regularly.
