Some months ago Angelina Jolie and his daughter Vivienne watched the musical play at the La Jolla Playhouse “The Outsiders”and they liked it so much that now the actress will act as a producer to present it on Broadway.
“The Outsiders” is based on a novel written by SE Hinton which was brought to the big screen in 1983. The film directed by Francis Ford Coppola led to star roles Matt Dillon, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio, Rob Lowe, emilio estevez, Tom Cruise and C.Thomas Howell; It is about two boys who in 1965 accidentally kill a member of a rival gang in Tulsa, for which they must flee to a nearby town.
Speaking to People Jolie said it was Vivienne who encouraged her to take on the project: “I cannot begin to express how excited I am for this musical to make its Broadway debut, and I look forward to sharing this new adaptation of “The Outsiders” with the world…Viv reminds me of my mother, as she doesn’t focus on being the center of attention, but on being a support for other creatives. She is very thoughtful and serious about theater and works hard to better understand how to contribute…I am so lucky to be a part of this special production.”
