According to the Zola online wedding planning website, This year getting married in the United States could cost $1,000 more than in 2022 And although the big wedding parties are back, inflation is also affecting these types of celebrations.
According to Emily Forrest, director of communications for Zola, the average cost of a wedding is $29,000 nationally, but in large cities it can even reach $35,000 or more.
For example, in the Big Apple it can cost around $43,536 dollars, in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale about $33,622 dollars, while in Chicago and Los Angeles reaches $32,281 and $30,712 respectively.
“Suppliers in the wedding industry have had to increase their rates because they are also paying more for goods and services like food, flowers and labor,” Forrest said. Year after year, inflation is reflected in the costs involved in this type of party even outbidding goods and services.
The pandemic served as a pause, despite the fact that many companies that benefit from these celebrations closed due to lack of profit, such as; the manufacture of wedding dresses, the truth is that for this summer, weddings are taking a boom that takes the market by surprise.
Esther Lee, deputy editor of The Knot said that “in 2022, we saw an average of 117 wedding guests, but in 2023 we found that 39% of couples are cutting back on their guest list. It’s no surprise that people are prioritizing more intimate ceremonies this year,” Forrest said.
The report carried out by Zola was based on the responses of some 4,000 surveyed couples who stated that the guest list does not exceed 150 people.
